The Ken Lantzy All-Star Classic football game is set for Friday night at Greater Johnstown High School’s Trojan Stadium, bringing together top seniors from across the region for a charity showcase.
A Tradition Revived
Penn Cambria’s head coach Jason Grassi will guide the North Squad, while Richland’s Brandon Bailey will steer the South Squad, each aiming to highlight emerging talent.
The contest will be streamed live on Renda Media and YouTube TV, giving fans across the state a chance to watch the action.
New offensive rules require teams to pass on at least 25 percent of plays each quarter, designed to open up the game and reward creativity.
The North roster draws players from Blair and Cambria County schools, featuring quarterbacks Brady Jones and Lance Jones sharing duties, while the South side includes athletes from Indiana and Somerset County.
Among the standout athletes slated to compete are Nick Felus, Jake Kissell, Grant Gides, Angelo Gallucci, Colt Hagans, Cam Rising, Zander Richardson, Brandon Nicodemus and Brent Davison, each bringing a unique skill set to the field.
Community Impact
The game traces its roots back to 1971, when it was created to offset medical expenses for former Cambria Heights player Ken Lantzy, and today it supports college scholarships for participants.
Local schools and sponsors, including First Summit Bank, have rallied behind the game, underscoring its role in fostering athletic development and educational opportunities.
Tickets are available for $7.18 via Eventbrite or $10 at the gate, with proceeds earmarked for scholarship funds.
