Austin Cindric’s start to the NASCAR Cup Series season has been anything but smooth. Crashes and finishes of 26th or worse in the first four races left him scrambling to find momentum.
However, the tide began to turn as Cindric posted four top‑10 finishes in the next eight outings, including an 11th‑place result at Michigan that hinted at a return to form.
The setbacks weren’t limited to early‑season mishaps; a crash in the Coca‑Cola 600 at Charlotte dropped him to 38th, and a 26th‑place finish at Nashville kept the pressure on.
Pocono: A Make-or-Break Moment
Now the focus shifts to Pocono Raceway, a venue where Cindric believes a breakthrough could redefine his championship trajectory.
Cindric has a history with the triangular track, having captured the Xfinity Series victory there in June 2021 and posting his best Cup finish of 10th in a previous start.
He enjoys the unique challenge of Pocono’s layout, a track that rewards strategic line choices and consistent lap times.
Currently 16th in the Cup standings, Cindric sits just above the playoff cutoff, three points ahead of teammate Joey Logano, 15 points ahead of Erik Jones, and 16 points ahead of Ryan Preece.
With 11 races remaining, every stage and stage point becomes a lifeline, prompting the driver to adopt a ‘playoff mode’ mindset focused on avoiding wrecks and maximizing finishes.
Practice for the Great American Getaway 400 is scheduled for Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m., followed by qualifying at 2:10 p.m., and the 160‑lap race will conclude the tripleheader weekend on Sunday at 3 p.m.
