Barry Enright Takes the Helm of Aggies' Pitching Staff
Texas A&M announced this week that Barry Enright will serve as the program’s new pitching coach, tasked with revitalizing a staff that posted a 5.24 ERA and surrendered 90 home runs in just 57 games during the 2026 season.
Enright, a former Major League pitcher who debuted in 2010 and remained in the big leagues through 2013, brings a player’s perspective to his new role, having experienced the pressures of elite competition firsthand.
His coaching résumé includes stints as the Los Angeles Angels’ pitching coach under Ron Washington, a role he held after the team’s 2023 World Series run, as well as a brief tenure as the Diamondbacks’ bullpen mentor during their own championship campaign.
More recently, Enright served as the Minor League pitching coordinator for the Athletics, where he also directed the club’s pitching development program, before returning to the college ranks.
A Coaching Legacy in the Making
The Aggies’ administration cited Enright’s blend of playing experience, championship pedigree, and proven ability to nurture arms as the decisive factors in his selection, hoping his guidance will translate into a more consistent and durable pitching rotation.
Colleagues and former teammates, including Michael Earley and Caleb Longley, have voiced confidence that Enright’s meticulous approach will restore confidence among the Aggies’ pitchers, many of whom are eager to rebound from a challenging campaign.
The move also underscores Texas A&M’s commitment to blending proven expertise with fresh ideas, a strategy that could reshape the program’s trajectory in the coming years.
