The Virginia High School League Class 1 state tournament is down to its final two local contenders: the Riverheads baseball squad and the Buffalo Gap softball team.
Semifinals set for June 12 in Salem
Both games will be played on June 12 in Salem, with the baseball semifinal pitting Riverheads against Patrick Henry from Glade Spring and the softball semifinal matching Buffalo Gap against Eastside.
Ticket information is straightforward: the baseball game costs $10 and the softball game $8, and tickets must be purchased online; cash will not be accepted at the gate.
The baseball contest is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. at Kiwanis Park, Billy Sample Field, 731 Indiana St., while the softball game follows at 12:30 p.m. at Moyer Sports Complex, 1000 Union St., both venues in Salem.
Streaming and championship outlook
Fans who cannot make the trip can still follow the action live on the NFHS Network, which will stream both semifinals.
Should either team win its semifinal, the state championship will be held on June 13 in Salem, giving the community a chance to crown a champion in front of home fans.
