On September 4, Stanford University will host its football showdown against the University of Miami, and the halftime festivities will feature a special performance by Bay Area rap legend E-40.
The appearance marks the culmination of a year‑long commemoration of the 20th anniversary of E-40’s breakthrough album 'My Ghetto Report Card', which first entered the Billboard 200 at No. 3 in 2006 and has since become a cultural touchstone.
Adding a personal touch, former Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, now the program’s general manager, has publicly credited E-40 with shaping his own college experience, and he will be among the supporters cheering the artist on the field.
A Milestone in Music and Sport
E-40’s set will blend his classic hits with new material, offering fans a nostalgic yet fresh experience that underscores two decades of artistic evolution.
University officials say the performance is part of a broader initiative to celebrate the Bay Area’s cultural contributions, aiming to inspire current students and give them a tangible connection to the region’s creative legacy.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Stanford Stadium, a venue that has long served as a gathering place for students, alumni and the broader community.
