A Legacy of Leadership
Ken Radolinski, a veteran linesman who has spent nearly three decades officiating at the highest levels of North American hockey, was named the 2025‑26 recipient of the Ryan Birmingham Memorial Award, an honor that celebrates outstanding service to the ECHL’s officiating staff.
The award, established in memory of Ryan Birmingham — a promising official who died in a 2007 automobile accident — recognizes individuals who have demonstrated dedication, professionalism, and a commitment to the development of fellow officials. Radolinski’s career began in the 1998‑99 season with USA Hockey, and he entered the ECHL ahead of the 2012‑13 campaign, later expanding his duties to the American Hockey League, the Federal Prospects Hockey League, and numerous junior and collegiate circuits.
In accepting the accolade, Radolinski expressed deep gratitude to his peers, mentors, and family, singling out Allen Pierson for instilling a respect‑first philosophy both on and off the ice, and thanking his wife, Carol, for her unwavering support throughout his journey.
Casey Terreri, the ECHL’s Manager of Officiating Operations, praised Radolinski’s professionalism and the breadth of his contributions, noting that the award will be presented during the 2026‑27 season and that the 2007‑08 ECHL Rule Book was dedicated to Birmingham’s memory, underscoring the lasting impact of his legacy.
Beyond his on‑ice work, Radolinski coordinates officials for a variety of leagues and tournaments, ranging from youth competitions in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, to senior events in Southgate, Ontario, a testament to his broad influence across the hockey community.
