Shannel Kovalsky, a power forward from Fairbanks, Alaska, has officially joined the University of Alaska Fairbanks women's basketball program, bringing a blend of size, physicality, and a proven scoring touch.
Freshman Season at Bellevue College
During her lone year at Bellevue College, Kovalsky earned NWAC North Region Freshman of the Year honors and secured a spot on the All‑Region First Team. She appeared in 25 games, starting 23, and averaged 11.3 points while shooting 48.8% from the field.
Statistical Impact and Milestones
Her production translated into 7.2 rebounds, nearly a steal and a block per game, and she recorded 16 games with double‑digit scoring. She reached a career‑high 25 points against Everett Community College on Jan. 10, 2026, and pulled down a career‑high 13 rebounds a month earlier at Linn‑Benton.
High School Legacy
Before college, Kovalsky starred at Monroe Catholic High School, earning First Team All‑State ASAA 3A honors in her junior and senior seasons and contributing over 1,000 points in her career.
