Big 12 Unveils 18‑Game Schedule Matrix
The Big 12 Conference announced its men's basketball schedule matrix on Thursday, confirming an 18‑game slate for each of the league's 16 programs. The format is designed to balance travel logistics with competitive fairness, ensuring that every team faces each opponent at least once.
Under the new arrangement, three matchups per season will be played on both home and road courts, while the remaining games will be split between home and away venues. This structure aims to reduce excessive travel while preserving a balanced competitive landscape across the conference.
TCU's Home and Road Assignments
TCU will enjoy a home‑only slate against Baylor, UCF, Colorado, Kansas, Texas Tech and Utah, giving the Horned Frogs a chance to leverage the familiar confines of the Schollmaier Arena. Conversely, the Frogs will travel exclusively to face Arizona, Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas State and West Virginia.
In addition, three rivals — Arizona State, BYU and Oklahoma State — will meet TCU in both venues, creating a double‑round dynamic that could prove pivotal in shaping conference standings and seeding for the postseason.
Building on Recent Success
Coach Jamie Dixon, now in his 11th year at the helm, returns five veterans from a squad that posted a program‑best 11‑7 record in Big 12 play last season and finished sixth overall. At the same time, ten newcomers will join the roster, blending experienced leadership with fresh talent.
The Frogs have reached the NCAA Tournament in four of the past five seasons, underscoring the program's upward trajectory. The balanced schedule is intended to keep the team competitive while minimizing fatigue as they aim to extend that streak.
A full conference schedule will be released later this summer, but the preliminary matrix already offers a glimpse of the strategic considerations shaping the upcoming campaign.
