A New Era of Leadership
Head coach Lance Taylor took to the podium this week to unveil a comprehensive staff overhaul that will take effect for the 2026 campaign, signaling a deliberate shift in how the Broncos approach player development and operational efficiency.
Louis Colosimo, a former quarterback who led Davidson to a Pioneer Football League title in 2021, returns to the Midwest as the program’s new Director of Football Operations. His résumé includes stints as Director of Football Operations and Player Personnel at Davidson, as well as coaching roles in Italy with Verona Mastini and Denmark with the Søllerød Gold Diggers.
Colosimo’s international experience brings a global perspective to WMU, where he will oversee day‑to‑day football operations while drawing on a career that began on the field as a signal‑caller for the Wildcats.
Carson Kipp joins the Broncos as an Assistant Strength Coach, bringing a blend of collegiate and professional conditioning expertise. The former Army sergeant spent three years in active duty before enrolling at Boise State, where he later served as a strength and conditioning coach at Eastern Kentucky, Washington and Boise State.
Chris Toudle, a tight end who capped his collegiate career with the Broncos in 2024, transitions to an Offensive Analyst role. His contributions helped WMU reach the IS4S Salute to Veterans Bowl against Southern Alabama, and his insider knowledge of the offense is expected to sharpen game planning.
Bethany van der Lek makes history as the first female head equipment manager in WMU Football history. Her previous work at Northern Illinois, the University of Delaware and the Minnesota Vikings equipped her with a unique blend of collegiate and NFL‑level experience.
Race Stewart, who transferred from Indiana ahead of the 2025 season, will serve as a Strength and Conditioning Analyst. He arrives after a standout defensive line performance on Indiana’s MAC Championship team, adding depth to the analytical side of player development.
Beyond these high‑profile hires, a wave of promotions was also announced, recognizing the contributions of Lee Menefee, Ethan Brenes, Drew Moulton, Nick Coleman, Joe Pawlak, Will Kirkendall, Pat Gannon, Joe Jenrette, Ben Fiest and James Dabu.
