The 13th edition of the Capital Area All-Star basketball showcase is set to light up Holt High School on Wednesday, June 17, bringing together the region’s top senior talent for a double-header of competition and celebration.
A final chapter for local legends
Headlining the event are KJ Torbert, the Mr. Basketball award winner, and Grady Eklund, the second-all-time leading scorer in Greater Lansing boys basketball history, who will each play what may be their final high school games on the same team under the guidance of coach Dominic Schneider.
Torbert arrives after a stellar career that included a Division 1 state championship as a junior and a runner-up finish this season, while Eklund capped his prep career by leading Pewamo-Westphalia to a Division 3 title and ranking among the area’s all-time greats behind only Marcus Taylor.
The evening will feature a girls contest at 6 p.m., followed by a dunk and three-point showdown at 7 p.m., and the boys game at 7:30 p.m., giving fans a full slate of action across multiple divisions.
Admission is priced at $10 for adults, with children five years old and younger admitted free, making the event accessible to families across the Capital Area.
Beyond the scores, the showcase serves as a community gathering point, highlighting local talent and providing a final stage for rising stars who will soon move on to college and beyond.
