Northern Illinois University announced that Uzziah Buntyn has signed on to join the Huskies' men's basketball program for the 2026‑27 season, marking the fourteenth new player added to the roster ahead of the upcoming campaign.
During his freshman year at the University of South Dakota, Buntyn posted averages of 12.1 points, 3.5 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game while shooting a career‑high 87.1 percent from the free‑throw line.
The 6‑foot‑2 point guard from Round Rock, Texas, arrives after a high school career that included more than 2,100 points scored at Stony Point High School and a Class 6A state runner‑up finish in 2024, earning four all‑state selections.
A Dynamic Playmaker
Coach Matt Majkrzak praised Buntyn's 'incredible first step' and his 'great feel for the game,' emphasizing that the recruit's scoring ability and playmaking skills will add depth and versatility to the team.
Buntyn's commitment underscores NIU's active recruitment strategy across the Midwest and beyond, as the program looks to build on recent progress and compete strongly in the coming season.
