A crowd of family members, friends and coaches gathered at Port Angeles High School on a crisp June afternoon as Matthew Miller signed his letter of intent to play soccer at Bellevue College.
Miller departs Port Angeles with a suite of records that will be hard to surpass, having amassed 97 career goals and 38 in his senior season, numbers that helped him earn Olympic League Offensive MVP honors.
The decision to join Bellevue was driven by a combination of affordability, on‑campus housing and the school’s reputation for a strong soccer program, factors that appealed to the young athlete and his support network.
Coaches Reflect on Miller’s Potential
Port Angeles boys soccer head coach Chris Saari, who has watched Miller develop from a freshman to a senior leader, expressed confidence that the player will thrive at the next level.
Head coach John Buttle of Bellevue’s soccer program praised Miller’s blend of talent, maturity and work ethic, saying the recruit could make an immediate impact on the team’s attack.
In remarks after signing, Miller thanked his family, teammates and coaches for their unwavering support, and looked forward to contributing to Bellevue’s tradition of excellence.
Looking Ahead
Miller’s next chapter will see him balancing academics with training sessions that promise to sharpen his already lethal finishing. As he steps onto the Bellevue campus, the community anticipates how his style will mesh with the college’s tactical approach.
