A Legacy of Contribution
Craig Snow, a former standout player and associate head coach for the University of Evansville men's basketball team, announced his resignation on June 11 as he seeks a new professional opportunity. The move marks the end of a chapter that began when Snow first donned the Purple Aces jersey and culminated in a coaching role that he embraced after returning to campus in the 2022‑23 season.
During his playing days, Snow helped the Aces capture the Missouri Valley Conference regular‑season championship as a sophomore in 1998‑99 and finished his collegiate career among the program’s all‑time greats with 1,530 points. He was a key contributor to the last UE squad to reach the NCAA Tournament, where the team fell to a 6‑seed Kansas squad in the opening round. Snow also led the team in scoring during his final two seasons, leaving an indelible mark on the program’s record books.
Snow’s coaching journey took him to New Mexico, where he served both as a head coach and an assistant before returning to Evansville. His presence on the staff coincided with a period of transition for the program, including a 7‑23 record in head coach David Ragland’s fourth season. Despite the recent dip in wins, Snow’s influence persisted as the team navigated a wave of roster changes, with six players entering the transfer portal while starters AJ Casey and Bryce Quinet opted to remain.
Gratitude and Forward Momentum
In his departure announcement, Snow expressed deep gratitude toward the University of Evansville, the basketball program, and its fan base, acknowledging the support that shaped his experience. Head coach David Ragland praised Snow’s contributions, highlighting his role in elevating the program’s standards and wishing him success in the next phase of his career. The university now faces the task of rebuilding around a reshaped roster while maintaining the competitive spirit that Snow helped instill.
