Providence College has officially added forward Thomas Vandenberg to its 2026‑27 men’s hockey roster, a move that underscores the program’s continued push to attract elite talent.
A Fresh Face in Providence
The Ottawa 67s standout grew up in Nepean, Ontario, where he dominated as a rookie, ranking fifth in league scoring with 50 points across 59 games.
His performance earned him an invitation to the 2026 NHL Scouting Combine in Buffalo and a spot on Canada’s roster for the IIHF U18 World Championship, where he contributed a goal in five games.
Draft analysts placed him No. 35 among North American skaters heading into the 2026 NHL Draft, reflecting expectations of a mid‑first‑round selection.
In the playoffs he added seven points in nine games and was named OHL Rookie of the Week on September 22 after a four‑point, hat‑trick debut against Kingston.
Prior to joining Providence, Vandenberg recorded 18 points in 55 games for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the USHL and helped Ottawa Myers Automotive capture the HEO U16 AAA championship with 43 points in 26 games.
Coaches expect his size, skill set and international experience to deepen the Friars’ forward depth as they aim for a competitive run in Hockey East.
