A Rising Star's Path
Alyson Reyes, a standout athlete from Bryan Adams High School in Dallas, Texas, began her athletic career on the soccer field before making a bold switch to flag football, a decision that would shape her future.
Under the guidance of coaches Carl Robinson and Zaccheus Husband, Reyes helped launch the school's first flag football team, catching the attention of college scouts and earning a scholarship to the University of Texas at Arlington, one of only twelve Division I programs in the nation that sponsor the sport.
The program at UT Arlington stands out as the sole Division I flag football offering in Texas, giving Reyes the chance to compete at a high level while pursuing her degree.
A Test of Resilience
Her freshman season ended abruptly when she tore her anterior cruciate ligament, but a disciplined rehabilitation enabled her to return just seven months after surgery. In her first game back, she recorded six interceptions and scored two touchdowns, signaling a swift recovery.
Over the ensuing years Reyes evolved into a two‑time team captain, contributed to the inaugural 2026 signing class, and graduated alongside teammates such as Kenya Wilson‑Brown, Leanna Ngyuen, Vanita Krouch, Ava Wallace, Ashlea Klam and Diana Flores, all part of a supportive community that includes her three younger sisters, one of whom plays for the Texas Fury club.
Dreams of Olympic Glory
Looking ahead, Reyes eyes the 2028 Summer Olympics, where flag football will make its debut, and harbors a longer‑term goal of representing Australia at the 2032 Games, a dream that reflects both her athletic ambition and her multicultural heritage.
