Summer Workouts on the Horizon
The Iowa City campus will host the first official summer workouts next week, marking the start of an intensive preparation period for the upcoming season. Players and staff will gather on the practice courts to focus on conditioning, skill development, and team chemistry before the formal campaign begins.
All of the newly signed athletes are already based in Iowa City except for Ella Stromdahl, who will join the squad later after completing her recent stint with the Swedish National Team. Her delayed arrival is expected to add an international dimension to the roster once she arrives.
Coach Jensen expressed enthusiasm about the group, noting that each newcomer brings a distinct skill set that could fill key roles on the court. The coaching staff has been reviewing game footage and evaluating how the players fit into the existing system.
Spotlight on New Additions
Jocelyn Faison arrives after a collegiate stint where she appeared in 25 games for the Bulldogs, averaging 1.3 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. While her statistical output was modest, coaches see untapped potential in her work ethic and defensive versatility.
Dani Carnegie comes to Iowa with a strong pedigree, having earned First Team All-SEC honors and logged 33.4 minutes per game while posting 17.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists. Her experience at a high‑level conference is expected to accelerate the team's offensive tempo.
Ella Stromdahl spent the past season with the RIG Lulea Swedish academy, where she contributed 6.5 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. Her time abroad has given her exposure to a different style of play, which she hopes to translate into immediate impact upon joining the Hawkeyes.
Amari Whiting is recognized for her defensive intensity and physical presence in the paint, having started 97 games throughout her college career. Her reputation as a gritty interior player adds a new layer of toughness to the lineup.
McKenna Woliczko, a 6‑foot‑2 five‑star recruit, was among the top defenders and rebounders in the 2026 class. Her combination of size and agility is viewed as a valuable asset for both offensive spacing and defensive schemes.
Bria Medina brings a scoring pedigree from Division III, where she averaged 23.6 points per game during her junior season — the second‑most in the division. Her proven ability to generate points in clutch situations could provide a reliable scoring option off the bench.
Coach Jensen concluded that the blend of experience, international exposure, and fresh talent positions the program well for a competitive summer. The upcoming workouts will serve as the first real test of how these players integrate with returning veterans and the coaching staff's vision for the season.
