BYU Basketball Unveils 18‑Game Big 12 Schedule with Non‑Conference Showdowns
The Big 12 Conference has officially released the 18‑game schedule that will shape BYU’s upcoming basketball season, outlining a balanced mix of home and away matchups.
According to the release, the Cougars are slated to meet three conference opponents twice, while six rivals will host them exclusively and another six will visit their arena, creating a varied competitive environment.
Non‑Conference Highlights
The season opens with a marquee clash against Ohio State in Salt Lake City on November 2, followed by a road trip to Palm Springs for a December 19 game versus San Diego State and a home meeting with Utah State on December 9.
A key component of the non‑conference slate is the Maui Invitational over Thanksgiving, where BYU will face a field that includes Arizona, Washington, VCU, Providence, Ole Miss, Colorado State and Clemson, a tournament that could produce up to three meetings with the Wildcats.
The Cougars will also stage an exhibition game against Nebraska on October 16 in Provo and are slated to schedule two additional “buy” games on home soil before the regular season begins.
Coaches and fans alike are already parsing the implications of a schedule that blends rigorous conference play with marquee non‑conference opponents, hoping the diverse slate will bolster résumé building and increase postseason prospects.
