Robin Pingeton’s inaugural campaign with the Wisconsin Badgers women’s basketball program concluded with a ten‑game skid, a result that initially raised questions about the team’s direction and the coach’s ability to instill immediate competitiveness.
Yet the season featured a bright spot: a run to the semifinals of the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament, highlighted by overtime victories over Oregon State, Miami and Harvard that showcased the squad’s resilience and capacity to perform under pressure.
A Turnaround in Madison
Central to the turnaround has been Pingeton’s aggressive use of the transfer portal, bringing in talent such as Laci Steele, Dorja Iva Zaja, Alicia Courthiau, Addie Deal, Kadida Toure and Teagan Mallegni. Each newcomer adds a distinct skill set that has deepened the roster and injected fresh energy into practice sessions.
The incoming class also includes freshmen Giselle Janowski, Adaline Sheplee and Leah Nordin, who are expected to contribute immediately and further fortify the bench. Their arrival signals a strategic focus on building depth and versatility for the upcoming 2026‑27 campaign.
Looking ahead, the Badgers aim to translate early‑season progress into consistent Big Ten contention. With a blend of experienced returnees and newly acquired talent, Pingeton’s vision for a more competitive, defensively disciplined squad appears increasingly attainable.
