Brethren Baseball Honors Standout Players at End‑of‑Season Banquet
The Brethren baseball team held its end‑of‑season banquet on June 2, 2026, gathering players, coaches and families to celebrate a season that concluded with a 6‑14‑1 record. The event highlighted both achievement and growth, naming Chase Schmidt as the Most Valuable Player and Kenyon Brown as the Most Improved Player.
Carter Pete and Anthony Collier were also recognized as Northwest Conference honorable‑mention selections. Pete finished the year with eight hits, one RBI and 17 stolen bases, while Collier contributed 16 hits, two home runs, 13 RBIs and 14 stolen bases.
Schmidt, who earned the MVP honor, added nine hits and three RBIs to his stat line and was dominant on the mound, recording 23 strikeouts. Brown’s breakout performance included 11 hits, six RBIs and eight stolen bases, underscoring his rapid development.
Despite the individual accolades, the team fell to Onekama 11‑1 in a pre‑district matchup that capped the season. The loss served as a reminder of the competitive nature of the Northwest Conference and the work still ahead for the program.
Looking Ahead
Coaches and teammates alike see the blend of seasoned veterans and rising stars as a foundation for future success, hoping to translate the momentum from this year’s awards into a more competitive campaign next spring.
