A promising leg for the Vols
Ford Fehling, a 6‑foot‑1, 195‑pound kicker from Marvin Ridge High School in Waxhaw, North Carolina, announced his commitment to the University of Tennessee on Tuesday, becoming the latest addition to the Vols’ 2027 recruiting class.
The pledge follows a scholarship offer from Tennessee on Monday and a campus visit the previous day, during which Fehling toured the facilities and met with coaches.
His decision adds to a class that already includes 13 other pledges, underscoring the program’s aggressive pursuit of top talent in the region.
Although he does not carry a 247Sports rating, Fehling’s athletic profile attracted attention early, with Coastal Carolina being the first Division I program to extend an offer.
He also holds a scholarship offer from the Iowa Hawkeyes, but the Tennessee opportunity ultimately sealed his choice.
Coaches praised his poise and work ethic, noting that his size and leg strength could provide a reliable option for future special‑teams needs.
