Troy Adds Anthony Winchester to Coaching Staff
Troy University announced this week that Anthony Winchester has been appointed as an assistant coach for the Trojans men’s basketball program, a move that brings a blend of playing pedigree and administrative acumen to the roster.
Winchester’s career spans a decade of professional play in Spain’s Liga ACB, where he averaged 15.3 points per game, and a parallel trajectory in coaching that began at the high school level before moving into collegiate support roles.
Prior to joining Troy, he served four seasons as Director of Video Operations at Kansas State University, a position that honed his organizational skills and deepened his analytical approach to the game.
A Familiar Connection Returns
The hiring also rekindles a personal connection for Winchester, who grew up in Seymour, Indiana, and who previously played alongside Coach Adam Howard, a bond that adds a layer of mutual trust and shared history to the team’s dynamics.
Beyond his playing days at Western Kentucky University — where he earned All‑American honors and was recognized as Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year — Winchester has contributed to the development of notable talents such as Markquis Nowell and Keyontae Johnson during his stints at various programs.
Expressing enthusiasm for the new role, Winchester highlighted his desire to build strong community ties and to contribute to the Trojans’ competitive aspirations, underscoring the excitement he feels about returning to a familiar environment.
