Philadelphia is gearing up to host a major soccer tournament this summer, drawing millions of visitors who will need reliable ways to reach matches, fan festivals and related events across the region.
In response, the Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO) is rolling out an expanded schedule that adds extra trains, boosts capacity on existing services and keeps stations open later, with standby trains on standby to handle surges.
The enhanced service links directly to the tournament’s hot spots, including South Philadelphia, the FIFA Fan Festival at Lemon Hill, Center City activations and the SoccerFest26 waterfront celebration in Camden, while offering more than 12,500 free parking spaces at stations such as Woodcrest near Interstate 295.
John D. Rink, PATCO’s general manager, notes that the World Cup excitement extends far beyond the stadium gates, and that the transit agency is focused on keeping fans moving efficiently across South Jersey and Philadelphia throughout the high‑traffic period.
Planning Your Trip
Riders can stick with regular fares, purchase tickets with cash, credit or debit cards, or use a FREEDOM Card, and children under four travel free when accompanied by a paying adult; the system also connects to SEPTA’s Broad Street Line and the Philly PHLASH for seamless transfers.
Officials encourage fans to plan ahead by checking schedules, fares and updates on RidePATCO.org, emphasizing that choosing public transit not only saves time but also reduces stress and traffic congestion during the tournament.
