Miccah Butler, a senior standout from Edwardsville, has been chosen to represent the Class 3A/4A South Team in the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game, set for June 13 at Pontiac High School.
Milestone Moments
Butler capped a career that placed him among the program’s elite, becoming the 25th Tiger to reach 1,000 career points. He achieved the feat with a clutch 27-point performance in a 51-50 Southwestern Conference win over O'Fallon, a game that also highlighted his role as the team’s leading scorer at 14.9 points per game.
His statistical footprint extends beyond the milestone. Butler finished second on the team with 74 three-pointers, trailing only Brady Niemi’s 87, and his 1,104 career points rank 21st in Edwardsville history. The Tigers finished the season 24-8, capturing their first regional championship since 2017 and advancing to the sectional title game.
All-Star Game Details
Butler will wear No. 33 when he takes the court for the 5 p.m. contest, joining teammates Alex Johnson of East St. Louis and Tyler Thompson of Triad. The game will be held at Pontiac High School, the same venue where last year’s IBCA All-Star Game featured another Edwardsville graduate, Herb Martin III.
Selected via IBCA All-State Special Mention honors, Butler’s inclusion underscores the continued prominence of Edwardsville basketball in the state’s talent pipeline. Fans can look forward to a showcase of the region’s top rising seniors.
