Keith Carter Appointed to NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee
Keith Carter, the Athletics Director at the University of Mississippi, has been named to the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee, a five‑year appointment that places him at the heart of the organization’s most visible decision‑making process.
In his new role, Carter will join a small group of administrators tasked with selecting, seeding and bracketing the 68 teams that compete for the national championship, a responsibility that underscores the trust placed in his basketball acumen and institutional knowledge.
A Legacy of Excellence
Carter’s ascent follows a distinguished playing career in which he earned All‑American honors at Ole Miss and later helped the Rebels capture two SEC Western Division titles as a four‑year starter. His leadership off the court has been equally impressive, guiding the athletics department since 2019 to a period marked by two national championships in baseball and women’s golf and a string of record‑breaking postseason finishes across all sports.
Before rising to the top of Ole Miss’s sports administration, Carter spent more than a decade in various development and resource‑acquisition positions, joining the university in 2009 and quickly becoming a key figure in fundraising, a skill set that earned him the Fundraiser of the Year Award in 2016.
His appointment reflects a broader confidence in his ability to translate the Rebels’ on‑field successes into strategic guidance for the national tournament, a prospect that excites both peers and fans alike.
