A New Era for Hamilton Baseball
Greg Bordes has been appointed the new head baseball coach at Hamilton High School in Chandler, stepping into the role vacated by Mike Woods, who retired after a storied tenure that included ten championships and the creation of a nationally recognized program.
Bordes brings a deep coaching pedigree to the position. He previously served as head coach at Queen Creek Crismon High, where he guided the team to the 4A state quarterfinals, and has held assistant roles at Arizona State University, Grand Canyon University, and the University of Arizona. His career also includes a year at Saint Mary's College in Northern California and a recent honor as The Arizona Republic's Coach of the Year.
Expressing enthusiasm about the new opportunity, Bordes described Hamilton as "the place to be," highlighting the school's culture and the standards established by Woods. He praised Woods for his mentorship during the transition and for building a program that consistently competes at the highest level.
The Huskies recently captured the AIA 6A baseball championship, a testament to the program's resilience and talent. Bordes is expected to build on that momentum, leveraging the existing infrastructure and community support to maintain Hamilton's status as a baseball powerhouse.
Local stakeholders and alumni have voiced optimism about the future under Bordes' leadership. The Arizona Republic's recognition of his achievements underscores the broader impact of his coaching philosophy, which emphasizes discipline, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
