South Bay seniors set for All-Star showdown

A group of eleven senior baseball players from the South Bay will take the field Saturday morning for the fifth edition of the Tyler Skaggs Foundation All-Star Game, a showcase that pairs rising talent with the mentorship of former Major League Baseball veterans.

The contest, scheduled for 9 a.m. at UCLA’s historic Jackie Robinson Stadium, will feature athletes from Mira Costa, Redondo Union, North Torrance, El Segundo, Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills Prep, St. Bernard and South Torrance high schools, all assembled on Team Aces under the guidance of coaches David Fletcher and Derrek Lee.

Team 45s, the opposing squad, will be anchored by starting pitcher Lyric Jordan of Wiseburn Da Vinci, while Isaac Orozco of South Torrance will open the game on the mound for Team Aces, setting the stage for a duel of local prospects.

Beyond the competition, the event underscores the foundation’s broader mission, launched in 2019 to empower youth through sport, offering resources that foster confidence, teamwork and leadership. Attendees can support the cause by purchasing tickets and making donations through tylerskaggsfoundation.org.
