Bon Secours Health System is investing $25 million to construct a freestanding emergency department in Greer, South Carolina, a move that underscores the health system’s commitment to bringing high‑quality emergency care closer to residents of Greenville County.
A new standard for 24‑hour emergency services
The Greer Emergency Center will feature nine exam rooms, a dedicated trauma suite, and on‑site CT and X‑ray technology, allowing board‑certified emergency physicians and nursing staff to deliver round‑the‑clock care without the need for a full hospital campus.
The project is the second of four planned freestanding emergency departments that Bon Secours intends to launch by 2027, with a similar facility slated for Powdersville later this year.
Celebrating workforce development and cultural remembrance
In the same week, Bon Secours St. Francis Health System honored the graduating class of Project SEARCH interns, a collaborative program with Greenville County Schools and South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation that equips students with disabilities with job‑training and life‑skills experience.
The community is also invited to view "In the Land of Wooden Shoes," a Holocaust remembrance exhibit that showcases nearly 200 portraits of children drawn by South Carolina artist Mary Burkett, each piece serving as a poignant tribute to lives lost during one of history’s darkest periods.
Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes recently received the Johnson Consulting Group 2025 Excellence in Customer Service Award, recognizing the firm’s dedication to compassionate support for families during difficult times.
Philanthropy fuels affordable housing initiatives
Homes of Hope announced that its annual Spring Gala raised $492,181, funds that will be directed toward affordable housing projects and the Men’s Workforce Development program, which assists men in overcoming addiction and re‑entering the workforce.
