Hofstra University's women's basketball program is set to enter the 2026‑27 season with a revamped roster, after announcing the addition of six players from the transfer portal.
The new arrivals — Ceylone Brooks, Kelian Cedano, Paloma Garcia, Felicia Jacobs, Angel Jones and Comari Mitchell — bring a mix of shooting prowess, defensive tenacity and championship experience.
A strategic infusion of talent
Brooks, who starred at Daytona State College, is expected to anchor the offense with her shooting and leadership.
Cedano comes from Temple University, where she averaged double‑digit points and provided versatility in the backcourt.
Garcia, a defensive specialist from Merrimack College, adds depth and grit to the frontcourt.
Jacobs, also a Temple alum, brings athleticism and rebounding that should bolster the team's interior presence.
Jones, who previously played at the University of Pittsburgh and Coppin State, arrives as an immediate offensive threat, while Mitchell, a champion from Jacksonville, contributes mid‑range shooting and poise.
Coach Danielle Santos Atkinson praised the group, stating that their diverse skill sets align perfectly with the program's vision to sustain momentum after the historic CAA Championship.
The additions not only deepen the squad but also signal Hofstra's aggressive recruiting in the transfer market, positioning the team as a contender for another title run.
Looking ahead
With the new roster in place, the Pride will open the season in early November, aiming to translate preseason optimism into on‑court success.
