Tennessee has entered the fray for the 2029 wide receiver class, extending a scholarship to Matthew Fletcher, a 6‑foot‑3, 195‑pound prospect from Central Hinds Academy in Raymond, Mississippi. The offer comes as the Volunteers look to shape a class that could eventually rival the depth of their 2027 cohort.
Fletcher, who also holds offers from Ole Miss, LSU, Mississippi State, Tuskegee, Jacksonville State, Hinds Community College and Jackson State, elected to explore the opportunity with the Vols, signaling a willingness to consider the SEC’s historic program alongside traditional powerhouses.
The Vols already boast 13 pledges for the 2027 cycle, including linebacker JP Peace, offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo and defensive lineman Kadin Fife, a trio that underscores Tennessee’s aggressive push in the current recruiting window.
While the 2028 and 2029 classes remain unfunded in terms of verbal commitments, the early overture to Fletcher underscores a long‑term vision that blends immediate impact with future stability.
