A Season to Remember

The American Baseball Coaches Association, in partnership with Rawlings, announced its All‑Southeast Region squads, and Florida Gulf Coast University contributed three standout athletes to the list.

Evan Dempsey, the Atlantic Sun Conference’s Pitcher of the Year, earned a place on the first team after a dominant campaign that saw him start all 57 games, bat .333 and post a 7‑2 record with a 3.15 ERA.

His 126 strikeouts topped the league, while his 1.06 WHIP and .209 opponent batting average underscored his command on the mound.

Jon Embury and Javier Gorostola were also recognized on the second team, with Embury crowned ASUN Player of the Year and lauded for leading the conference in hits per game, home runs and RBIs.

Embury’s .655 slugging percentage ranked 85th nationally, and his 144 total bases placed him 48th in the country, highlighting his all‑around offensive impact.

Gorostola finished the season ranked 37th nationally in hits per game, amassing 81 hits and batting .370, a performance that secured his All‑ASUN First Team selection.

The trio’s accolades reflect a program that has steadily climbed the national ranks, drawing attention to Florida Gulf Coast University’s growing baseball pedigree.

Coach praised the players’ work ethic, noting that the recognition validates the team’s rigorous schedule and its emphasis on developing talent for future professional opportunities.

Fans and alumni alike are optimistic that the momentum will carry into the next season, as the university looks to build on its recent successes and pursue deeper runs in the NCAA tournament.
