Montana Tech’s women’s basketball program recently opened its doors to about a hundred high school girls, inviting them to a summer camp centered on the fundamentals of the game.
Fundamentals First
Head coach Jeff Graham, who carried the camp format from Belt High to Montana Tech, stressed that mastering basic footwork and mechanics is the foundation for any successful player.
The Orediggers are riding the momentum of their best season in program history, a run that culminated in winning the Frontier Tournament for the first time since 1984 and securing a victory in a national tournament game for the first time ever.
Junior Brooke Badovinac, a key voice in the camp, echoed the coach’s focus on simplicity, noting that clean footwork and sound mechanics can unlock greater confidence on the court.
Badovinac expressed excitement about returning to practice with her teammates, highlighting the camaraderie that has built around the team’s recent successes and the shared desire to translate camp lessons into summer games.
Graham hopes the young participants will carry the skills they acquire into their own summer competitions, believing that a strong technical base will serve them well beyond the camp’s duration.
