Liberty University’s field hockey program announced its 2026 schedule, a 17‑game slate that blends early‑season experiments with a rigorous conference slate.
A Schedule Packed with Powerhouses
The lineup features six contests against teams that finished the 2025 Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll among the nation’s top twenty, including showdowns with North Carolina, Virginia, Duke, Miami (Ohio), Connecticut and UMass.
Before the regular season begins, the squad will test its mettle in three exhibition matches against Davidson, Virginia and Appalachian State, using those games to fine‑tune tactics and build chemistry.
A marquee matchup arrives on September 25, when Liberty travels to face Connecticut in a rematch of the 2025 BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship title game, a contest that could set the tone for the season.
Championship Opportunity in Philadelphia
The 2026 BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship will be staged at Temple’s home venue in Philadelphia, and the champion will secure an automatic berth into the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship, the ultimate prize for the program.
Liberty enters the season riding a wave of recent success; the team captured both the BIG EAST regular‑season title and tournament crown in 2025 and has reached the NCAA championship game in four of the past five years.
Ranked No. 6 in the final 2025 NCAA Field Hockey RPI, the program aims to translate that momentum into another deep tournament run, beginning with the opening clash against the Maine Black Bears on August 28, 2026.
