Omaha, Nebraska — On June 12, the Ole Miss Rebels will meet the No. 5 seeded North Carolina Tar Heels in the opening game of the College World Series at Charles Schwab Field.
Taylor Rabe, a right‑handed pitcher from Greenville, South Carolina, will take the mound for Ole Miss. Once a reliever, Rabe has moved into the starting rotation and has become a cornerstone of the Rebels’ pitching staff.
Through 16 appearances and 10 starts this season, Rabe sits at 5‑3 with a 3.71 earned run average. He has fanned 98 batters while walking only 11 in 70.1 innings, and he has limited opponents to just three runs over his last three starts against Alabama, Nebraska and Auburn.
His recent stretch has been especially sharp; in two NCAA Tournament starts against Nebraska and Auburn he posted a 2.08 ERA, underscoring his ability to thrive under pressure.
Ranked as the No. 90 prospect by MLB.com, Rabe is slated to be eligible for the 2026 MLB draft, which will be held in Philadelphia, adding a future professional dimension to his collegiate performance.
A Rising Star on the Mound
Coach Hunter Elliott has praised Rabe’s poise and command, noting that the pitcher’s confidence continues to grow with each outing. The move into the rotation reflects a broader tactical shift that could prove decisive against a Tar Heels lineup that has already proven formidable.
