Community Honours Celebrate Local Impact
An annual honours list released this week shines a light on a handful of individuals from Lincolnshire whose contributions span sport, education, public service and emergency response.
Jason Land, a disability football coach and inclusion lead at the Grimsby Town Foundation, has been awarded a British Empire Medal for his services to football. Land has devoted more than 26 years to disability football, helping to create pathways for participants across the region.
In 2024 the Football Association presented him with The Hope Award, recognising his sustained impact on inclusive sporting opportunities.
Robert Walsh, former chief executive of North East Lincolnshire Council, received an OBE for services to local government, reflecting his long career in regional administration.
Fiona Booth, headteacher of St Nicholas Church of England Primary Academy in Boston, was also honoured with an OBE for her dedication to education and community engagement.
Lyndsay Howden from Grimsby, a volunteer with Humberside Fire and Rescue Service and the British Red Cross, was awarded a BEM for her work as an emergency response volunteer. She initially thought the call informing her of the honour was spam.
