A new chapter for Jefferson City girls basketball
Morgan Eye Scott, a standout player for the Missouri Tigers from 2011 to 2015, has been appointed head coach of the Jefferson City High School girls basketball program. The school board is expected to approve her hiring, which will also see her take on a teaching role within the district.
Scott brings a deep connection to the program, having helped the Tigers to multiple conference titles during her collegiate career. She remains the school’s all‑time leader in three‑point field goals, sinking 367 from beyond the arc, a record that underscores her shooting precision and longevity.
Before moving to Jefferson City, Scott honed her coaching chops at William Woods University and at Hickman High School, where she guided the team to a 56‑23 record over three seasons. Her work earned her the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Class 6 District 7 co‑coach of the year honor for the 2023‑24 campaign, a testament to the rapid turnaround she engineered.
In addition to leading the varsity squad, Scott will teach physical education at the high school, pending final board approval. Athletic director Chris Michaels, who she will succeed, praised her leadership and expressed confidence that her playing pedigree and coaching record will translate into competitive success on the court.
