Steven Milam, the standout shortstop who helped LSU capture a national championship in 2025, has announced that he will remain in Baton Rouge for a fifth year of eligibility, forgoing the 2026 MLB Draft to pursue another season with the Tigers.
Infield Reinforcements
His decision brings a reliable defensive anchor and a potent bat to a lineup that already boasts a career average of .305, a .410 on‑base percentage and a .514 slugging percentage, along with 146 RBI and 154 runs scored in his LSU career.
The infield will also feature newcomers Dawson Park and Cade Kurland, both highly rated transfer portal prospects. Park is expected to man third base while Kurland will start at second, giving LSU a blend of experience and fresh talent, while Mason Braun returns to anchor first base and veterans John Pearson and Jack Ruckert add depth.
Coach's staff believes the reinforced infield could propel the team back into the top tier of the SEC and contend for the College World Series in Omaha, a goal that eluded them after a No. 2 preseason ranking and a missed NCAA Tournament appearance in 2026.
