NASCAR Adjusts Pocono Race Start Time Amid Weather Concerns

Rain forecast prompts early kickoff of the Great American Getaway 400, with Amazon Prime Video set to broadcast

NASCAR has shifted the start time of its upcoming Pocono Raceway event to beat the weather.

The Great American Getaway 400 Cup Series race, originally slated for later in the day, will now begin at 1 p.m. Eastern on June 14.

Weather‑Driven Schedule Adjustment

Meteorologists with the National Weather Service are forecasting a high of about 79 degrees in Long Pond, Pennsylvania, on the day of the race.

Rain chances are expected to climb to roughly 67 percent by 4 p.m., with thunder and lightning possible in the area.

Series officials decided to move the event earlier in the day to reduce exposure to those conditions.

Fans will be able to watch the action live on Amazon Prime Video, which holds the broadcast rights for the weekend.

The weekend schedule also includes practice and qualifying sessions on June 13 on the 2.5‑mile triangular layout that defines Pocono Raceway.

NASCAR says the early start is intended to protect drivers, crews and spectators while still delivering a full slate of on‑track activity.
