Iowa’s men’s basketball program has added a new piece to its future plans, as three-star forward Keller Daugherty announced his commitment to the Hawkeyes for the class of 2027.
A Sizeable, Versatile Talent
Standing at 6-foot-10 and weighing 215 pounds, Daugherty brings a blend of length, athleticism and skill that aligns with coach Ben McCollum’s vision for the program. His ability to stretch the floor, defend multiple positions and finish at the rim was a key factor in his recruitment.
The Lee’s Summit, Missouri native chose Iowa over a handful of other suitors, including Oklahoma, Drake and Colorado State. In doing so, he followed a recruiting path that many analysts had mapped out after his junior season at Lee’s Summit High, where he helped the team to a 24-6 record.
During that campaign he posted close to 14 points per game and pulled down 6.2 rebounds, numbers that placed him at No. 153 in the 247Sports composite for the 2027 class. The ranking reflects not only his statistical output but also his projected impact at the collegiate level.
What This Means for Iowa
McCollum has long emphasized size, length and versatility in his recruiting pitches, and Daugherty fits that mold perfectly. His pledge is expected to ripple through the Hawkeyes’ board, encouraging other high-profile targets to consider Iowa as a viable destination.
The commitment also signals a continued upward trajectory for the program’s recruiting class, which has already seen a surge of interest following recent on-court successes. As the Hawkeyes look to build momentum, Daugherty’s addition could serve as a catalyst for further talent inflows.
With the new signee now locked in, Iowa’s staff can begin shaping a roster that blends veteran leadership with fresh, high-upside talent. The next steps will involve integrating Daugherty into offseason workouts and positioning him for a breakout freshman season.
