Award‑Winning Season
Georgia Bulldogs catcher Daniel Jackson has been crowned the nation’s top collegiate catcher, securing the 2026 Buster Posey Award while also capturing the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award.
His season statistics — 31 home runs, 86 RBIs, 26 stolen bases — have propelled the Bulldogs to the College World Series, where they are set to open against Texas on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET, a matchup that will stream live on ESPN.
A native of Sandy Springs, Georgia, Jackson stands 6‑2 and weighs 200 pounds, and his .396 batting average places him among the top five hitters nationally across five offensive categories.
The accolades extend beyond personal statistics; Jackson is also the SEC Player of the Year and a Triple Crown winner, underscoring his all‑around dominance.
The College Baseball Foundation announced the award winners during a press conference at the CWS, highlighting the significance of the Posey and Bragan honors, which recognize both athletic excellence and character.
Jackson took the opportunity to thank his family, coaches, teammates and catching coach Brock Bennett, emphasizing the collaborative effort behind his success.
With the Golden Spikes Award winner to be revealed on June 29, Jackson joins an elite group of three Division I players in history to reach 30 home runs and 25 stolen bases in a single season.
