A Tradition Rekindled
Michigan Wolverines are set to rekindle two of their most beloved game‑day traditions as the 2026 football season approaches.
On September 12, the team will host a Maize Out when they welcome Oklahoma, a night when the stadium will be awash in a sea of maize and gold, marking the first meeting of the two programs at Michigan Stadium.
A week later, on September 26, the Wolverines will stage a Stripe Out against Iowa, inviting fans to wear black and gold in a coordinated display that has become a staple of the Michigan experience.
The return of these themes comes on the heels of a painful memory: last season the Wolverines fell 24‑13 to the Sooners, a game that also introduced quarterback Bryce Underwood to his first career start under center.
Oklahoma has never before played on the historic Michigan Stadium, making the upcoming clash a novel chapter for both fan bases and a chance to test the Wolverines' home‑field advantage.
Michigan, however, holds a commanding edge over Iowa, having won four straight meetings dating back to 2019, with the most recent encounter in 2019 ending 10‑3 in favor of the home team.
