A Homecoming for a Rising Star
Mykel Williams, the Hardaway High School alumnus who was selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers, returned to Columbus this weekend to lead his second annual youth football camp.
The event, which ran from Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon, welcomed roughly 150 athletes between the ages of 13 and 17 from across the region. They trained on the fields of Odis Spencer Stadium, where Williams demonstrated drills and shared insights from his own development.
Williams emphasized the importance of community involvement, saying, “Giving back is how I stay grounded and why I wanted to bring this camp home.” He highlighted the values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance, hoping to instill them in the next generation of players.
Beyond the on‑field work, the camp included mentorship sessions where Williams discussed the transition from college to the professional ranks, offering advice on handling pressure and staying focused.
