Big 12 Unveils 2026‑27 Men’s Basketball Schedule
The Big 12 Conference has released its 18‑game schedule matrix for the 2026‑27 men’s basketball season, laying out a demanding slate for every program, including BYU. The Cougars finished 10th a year ago and are eager to climb the standings under second‑year head coach Kevin Young.
A protected rivalry with Utah remains a centerpiece, guaranteeing two meetings each season — one at the Huntsman Center and the other at the Marriott Center. The Utes, led by Alex Jensen in his second year, finished last in the league last season but are expected to improve with transfers Jackson Holcombe and Noam Yaacov joining the roster.
BYU will also renew its series with Arizona for the third straight year. The Wildcats, who reached the Final Four last season and captured both the regular‑season and tournament titles, are projected as favorites again, bolstered by returning stars Motiejus Krivas and Ivan Kharchenkov and a five‑star freshman in Caleb Holt.
The Cougars’ road schedule features some of the league’s toughest venues, including Houston’s Fertitta Center, Iowa State’s Hilton Coliseum and Texas Tech’s United Supermarkets Arena. Notably, BYU will travel to each of those sites without a corresponding home game against the same opponents, adding to the challenge.
Kansas will make its first trip to Provo since 2025, a venue where the Jayhawks recorded their first win over BYU after the Cougars entered the league in 2023. Kansas has bolstered its frontcourt with former Utah forward Keanu Dawes and added No. 1 recruit Tyran Stokes alongside guard Taylen Kinney, promising a fresh dynamic.
With a blend of seasoned veterans and fresh talent, the Cougars are poised to confront a demanding schedule that tests both depth and resilience. The upcoming season could define their trajectory within the competitive Big 12 landscape.
