Rutgers University announced Wednesday that three-star wide receiver Isaiah Alvarez has pledged to join the Scarlet Knights' 2027 recruiting class, marking a significant addition to the program's offensive outlook.
A Recruiting Boost for Rutgers
Alvarez, a standout at Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey, posted 702 receiving yards and six touchdowns last season while averaging roughly 18 yards per catch. Rivals ranks him as the No.112 wide receiver nationally and the No.24 prospect in the state, while 247Sports places him at No.82 overall and No.15 in New Jersey.
The recruit considered offers from Colorado, Michigan State, Nebraska and Penn State before narrowing his list. He called off scheduled visits to Nebraska and Penn State, ultimately deciding on Rutgers after a campus visit in April that he described as a "positive experience."
Coach Brock, who oversees the Knights' receivers, was cited by Alvarez as a decisive factor in his choice, highlighting the coach's track record in developing talent. Alvarez joins Jamar Taylor and Arnold Mugerwa in a three-player wide-receiver cohort that the staff hopes will bolster the offense.
The commitment underscores Rutgers' growing influence in the Northeast recruiting market and reflects the program's ambition to compete more aggressively for top talent. Analysts expect the new class to add depth and versatility to the Scarlet Knights' passing attack.
