A two‑day basketball camp held at Scorpion Arena in Farmington, New Mexico, attracted more than a dozen high schools from the Four Corners region, featuring 34 teams and dozens of young athletes.

Teams representing New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Arizona converged, with local squads such as Farmington High, Navajo Prep, Kirtland Central, Piedra Vista and Shiprock joining newcomers from Bayfield, Cortez, Montrose and Ignacio.

Larry Don‑Chitty, head coach of Farmington High, said the camp was one of the largest ever organized in the area, noting the participation of 17 schools and 35 teams.

Friday’s Action on the Court

Farmington edged Los Lunas 33‑31 in a tightly contested game, while Navajo Prep fell 28‑26 to Durango, coached by Orlando Griego.

Sophomore Tayden Adsen of Farmington impressed with several second‑half baskets, and Montrose’s sophomore Cache Oberg led his team with a high scoring output.

Saturday’s Highlights and Standout Performers

Navajo Prep’s veteran Dylan Lansing, who finished his prep career with over 1,000 points, was among the players highlighted, alongside rising stars such as Aden Clah, Breygen Benally and Iosefo Mauga.

Cortez, Bayfield and Montrose posted strong performances on the second day, with Montrose led by sophomore Cache Oberg, the leading scorer for the Red Hawks.

Farmington later lost 43‑39 to Cortez in a close contest where they rallied from an eight‑point deficit late in the second half, underscoring the competitiveness of the field.

The camp not only showcased emerging talent but also reinforced regional rivalries ahead of the upcoming season, setting the stage for a competitive year across the Four Corners.
