Javante Williams faces multiple charges following a June 6 incident that ended without injuries

Roanoke, Va. — On the evening of June 6, a pickup basketball game at the city’s Recreation Center turned chaotic when a dispute escalated into a physical fight on the court.

According to police, several players entered the fenced court by crawling under the perimeter fence, and the tension quickly boiled over into a scuffle between two participants.

Shots Fired, No Injuries Reported

One of the individuals involved, identified as Javante Williams, retrieved a handgun from a nearby vehicle and discharged several rounds toward the people inside the enclosure. Fortunately, no one was struck by the gunfire, and the scene was secured without further violence.

Officers arrived promptly, detained the area, and later located Williams, who was taken into custody without incident. He now faces seven counts of attempted murder and seven counts of reckless endangerment.

Legal Proceedings Underway

Williams is scheduled to appear in court in the coming weeks as prosecutors build their case. The charges carry significant penalties, reflecting the seriousness with which the community views the misuse of firearms in public spaces.
