Arkansas Extends Scholarship to Elite Center Caleb Ourigou

Four‑star recruit’s defensive prowess and physicality attract Razorbacks’ attention

Arkansas coach John Calipari has awarded a scholarship to Caleb Ourigou, a 6‑foot‑10, 215‑pound center who made a strong impression at the NBPA Top‑100 Camp. The offer marks a significant addition to the Razorbacks' 2027 recruiting class and highlights the program's intent to bolster its frontcourt.

A Two‑Way Threat in the Paint

Ourigou’s combination of length, mobility and defensive instincts fits perfectly with Arkansas’s need for more size down low, especially alongside the recent addition of Furman transfer Carson Bowser. His ability to claim position, finish around the basket and recover quickly in pick‑and‑roll actions offers the team a versatile interior presence.

Beyond the Razorbacks, the New York native has attracted scholarship offers from a host of high‑major programs, including TCU, Virginia, Michigan, NC State, Missouri, Auburn, BYU, UConn, Syracuse, Kentucky and Tennessee. He has also proven his mettle on the Nike EYBL circuit and during his stint with Overtime Elite’s Cold Hearts, where he averaged over 17 minutes, six points, eight rebounds and a block per game.

In the recent EYBL Session II, Ourigou posted 13 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks per game while shooting 62 % from the field and converting just over 57 % of his free throws. His tournament performance included a 75 % field‑goal rate, underscoring his efficiency when attacking the paint.

Associate head coach Kenny Payne, renowned for developing elite big men, sees in Ourigou a player who can embrace physicality, maintain balance through traffic and finish effectively around the rim. If his offensive game catches up with his defensive skill set, he could quickly become one of the premier centers in the 2027 class.

The commitment would not only address Arkansas’s interior needs but also signal a recruiting victory in a competitive landscape, potentially reshaping the team’s outlook for the coming seasons.
