Ole Miss Baseball's College World Series campaign concluded on June 14 with a 12-8 defeat to Troy at Omaha's TD Ameritrade Park. The loss marked the Rebels' second straight game without a win in the series, dropping their record to 0-2.
A Late Surge in the Seventh Inning
Troy erupted for three runs in the fifth, added four in the seventh and three in the eighth, while Ole Miss answered with a two-run homer by Brayden Randle in the second and a solo shot by Will Furniss in the eighth.
Hunter Elliott took the mound for Ole Miss, delivering 4 2⁄3 innings that featured seven hits and five runs allowed before being replaced by JP Robertson in the fifth.
Collin Reuter’s two-run homer in the fourth briefly narrowed the gap, and reliever Walker Hooks entered in the seventh after JP Robertson's exit, but Troy's solo home run in that frame put them ahead.
Sean Darnell’s two-run homer in the second had opened the scoring for Troy, and despite a late solo homer by Will Furniss, the Rebels could not recover the deficit.
The game capped a whirlwind series that saw both teams trade blows, with Troy’s late-inning bursts proving decisive. Ole Miss finished the tournament with a 0-2 record, ending a season that had promised much but fell short of its championship aspirations.
