Florida A&M women's basketball head coach Bridgette Gordon recently opened the doors of the Lawson Center to a group of aspiring young athletes, inviting them to experience a camp that blended skill development with personal mentorship.
The event attracted between twenty‑five and thirty girls from Florida and surrounding states, each selected for their potential and passion for the game.
A Focus on Personal Growth
Gordon explained that she deliberately kept the camp small to ensure she could spend quality time with every participant, fostering an environment where individual progress mattered as much as team success.
During the sessions she offered scholarships to five standout athletes, with the possibility of extending those awards to additional participants who demonstrated exceptional effort and coachability.
Beyond teaching proper basketball techniques, Gordon emphasized the importance of character, teamwork, and a love for the sport, aiming to leave a lasting legacy for the next generation of women players.
