From Player of the Year to Coach of the Year, the coast’s talent reaches new heights

The 2026 Mississippi Gulf Coast baseball season will be remembered for its intensity and the sheer volume of talent that emerged from the region’s high schools.

At the center of the buzz is Bradyn Havard of George County, who captured the Player of the Year award after logging a school‑record 134 strikeouts and posting a 1.30 ERA, a feat that also earned him the Fan’s Choice honor with 42 percent of the vote.

Just a season after his breakout, Reese Parker of West Harrison repeated as Underclassman of the Year, finishing with a career‑best 39 hits, a 2.13 ERA and 55 strikeouts, while batting .429 and leading the Coast with eight triples.

Buddy Turnage of Pearl River Central was recognized as Coach of the Year after steering his squad to a South State title and a school‑record 30 victories, finishing as the 6A state runner‑up.

Other standouts included Ayden Demoran of D’Iberville, who combined a 40‑hit season with a 1.80 ERA and 74 strikeouts, and Carson Pierce of George County, who fanned 80 batters while posting a 1.097 OPS at the plate.

Pearl River Central’s JJ Morreale set new single‑season marks with 55 hits and a .458 average, while Tate Murphy of St. Stanislaus topped the Coast in extra‑base hits with 22 and 12 home runs, posting a 1.681 OPS.

The depth of talent extended across the coast, with players like Anthony Bonfiglio, Jett Smith, Blake Gill, Kendall Morrison, Ayden Radosta, Wyatt Schnoor, Gunner Eure and Dane McElroy each delivering performances that highlighted the region’s breadth of skill.

Colleges scouting the area have taken notice, with several of the featured athletes committing to programs such as Pearl River Community College, Southern Miss, Jones College and others, promising to carry the coast’s legacy into the next level.
