Norwich University announced this week that Jess Michals will join the women's ice hockey program as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2026‑27 season, adding a fresh layer of expertise to a staff that has already enjoyed a breakthrough year.
A Program on the Rise
Head Coach Justin Simpson steered the team to a historic 2025‑26 campaign, capturing the inaugural Little East Conference regular‑season and tournament titles and guiding the club to its first NCAA Division III Frozen Four appearance since 2018.
Michals arrives after a distinguished playing career at Endicott College, where she helped the Gulls compile a 79‑23‑7 record and earn two NCAA Division III Tournament berths.
Her time at Endicott was complemented by academic accolades, including Dean's List honors and a spot on the Conference of New England Academic All‑Conference Team in 2024‑25.
Beyond the rink, Michals has honed her coaching craft with stints at King's College, the Boston Kraken, and the Michals Hockey Academy, while also contributing to prospect camps with Super Gulls Hockey.
Looking Ahead
The university expressed confidence that Michals’ background in mental‑health advocacy and community engagement will further enrich the team culture as it aims to sustain its momentum and pursue national‑championship aspirations.
